Our hen had a bean.........

A kidney bean to be exact!

Jason collected the eggs this evening and brought in this cutie pie of an egg! We've had tiny ones like this before, but never this color.

Folks, I think we have a new layer on our hands.

In a month or so, we should increase our eggs by a gazillion. Well, not really a gazillion. I tend to over exaggerate sometimes. But, we will go from getting around 20 eggs a day to hopefully 300 eggs a day.

So, our little kidney bean egg is a good indication that we have some new layers on the farm.

Is this not the cutest little egg you've ever laid eyes on?

I love those cute little pullet eggs! We've had dark ones like that lately, too, but I have no idea what breed of hen might be laying them.

I can't imagine washing 300 eggs a day - when we were getting 4 dozen a day I got tired of standing at the sink. But I imagine you're going to mechanize it somehow?

Love the pullet eggs - how unusual! I can't wait for our chickens to start laying eggs.

do you scramble it or just put it your chili?

Oh, too cute! We got a tiny one from a new layer this weekend, but it wasn't nearly so small or dark. Meanwhile, one of her sisters finally laid a full-size egg. Woohoo! (We have 7 backyard chickens.)

isn't it funny what excites us these days? my favorite is when i get a "twin egg" i call the entire family in to see and then tell the story of how this must have been what our pacen and brylen looked like in my tummy! i feel like i won something when i crack that open and get a two for one!! have a good day!!!
